“Equal Justice Under the Law” is a phrase we have all heard and seen. The Quest for Justice project is largely about the Legal Aid program and their efforts to provide legal services to people who could not otherwise afford them. And, it serves as the inspiration for our Legal Document Preparation service.
What is the Quest for Justice?
In the Criminal Justice system, all defendants have the right to an Attorney. It’s a Constitutional Right. If you can’t afford an Attorney, one is appointed for you. However, people who can afford to hire an expensive, private Criminal Defense Attorney have a far greater chance of success than those who have an Attorney appointed for them. The appointed Attorney comes from the Public Defenders office. The Public Defenders mean well, but the Court system does not pay them very well. Especially when compared to what an Attorney can earn in private practice. In the Quest for Justice, the ideal of “Equal Justice for All” quite often translates to “Equal Justice for All…who can afford it”.
MyLegalDocs.net and the Quest for Justice
The appointed criminal defense attorney does not handle Post-Conviction relief, such as early termination of probation, or sealing or expunging a record. Our Legal Document Preparation service is here to help bridge the gap, and make a small dent in the “Equal Justice for All…who can afford it” problem.
Because we are not Attorneys, we can’t provide Legal Advice or represent you in Court. Legal Information provided is generally available to the public. We prepare affordable Legal Documents at your sole direction, based on your written answers to our questionnaire. In so doing, we hope that our services help make “Equal Justice Under the Law” attainable for more people.
